Yazid started playing soccer since he was 4 or 5 years old, that was the only sports practiced in rural Algeria where everyone lives and breathes soccer. He started like all kids with street soccer and as kids we played with anything that is round and looks like a ball. As he grew up he played for the village team, Middle school and high school teams. When he arrived in the United States in the late 1990s, he attended college, and was able to play for the State University of New York at Oswego for one season.
He had coached kids from the community in Algeria and served as a referee for both youth and adult soccer games. Yazid is very passionate about European fast paced soccer, and the techniques used. However, in the last few years he started following US soccer and noticed that it’s progressing exponentially with a potential to become a top sports in the US.
As a coach he enjoys watching the kids progression from week to week, and is looking forward to acquiring the youth coaching licenses.
